Beldocs is one of the Balkans largest documentary film festivals.  Since its first festival edition in 2008, the Beldocs team has been endeavoring to create a unique space where the specificity of documentary film will be celebrated and the pressing issues facing humankind will be discussed outspokenly. This is the space for freedom of expression and free thinking, promotion of courageous, young authors, celebration of established great names of film, as well as acquainting the local audience with the constant evolution of film language and film forms. We support a free film that extends the boundaries, the truth and courage of expression. We unreservedly support the Serbian film, considering that with the making of a brand we assume a certain amount of responsibility towards the Serbian authors, to whom we try to provide maximum help and ease production difficulties. As a team, we are trying to establish strategic partnerships with documentary film festivals throughout Europe and in that way facilitate possible co-productions of Serbian films.

We are absolute opponents of any type of censorship, auto-censorship or inhibition of artistic creation.

We are proud of the path we have pursued from the first festival to the present – from a modest, non-competitive edition which screened fifteen films, year on year our ambitions grew, so that today Beldocs has four competition programmes (Serbian, International, Best Short and Teen), over one  hundred films, dozens of world and regional premiers, two retrospectives and a Country in Focus Programme.

The Festival now also has an extensive Industry Programme, where future domestic and international projects are being developed.
